no place like home

Featuring work by Selena Lozano, Nazanin Noroozi, and Dionis Ortiz

On View: June 25–July 31, 2022

Opening reception: Saturday June 25, 5-8 PM

Transmitter is proud to present no place like home, a group exhibition including Selena Lozano, Nazanin Noroozi, and Dionis Ortiz. Their works gesture tomoments of stillness entangled with instability, memory, and joy. Patterns and color signal a relief from the angst that different possibilities of what 'home' may mean and provide to each individual. The materials reveal the artist's vision and invite the viewer into their memories and their ‘homes’.

Selena Lozano, shares an intimate series of still lifes that serves as a window into her home. Layering memories and objects—some clearly drawn while others revealing themselves as cultural markers.

Nazanin Noroozi presents a series of studies, a layered analysis on memories and their styling. Figures and landscapes are intersected, made unrecognizable, and weathered to simultaneously compose a scrapbook of memories.

Dionis Ortiz sets a stage and he is inviting us home using quotidien materials—inspired by the decorative tiles used in churches, kitchens, DIY floors, and pre-war architecture. Memories and nostalgia are held within the assembled patterns.
